Rediscover the freshness of the present moment.
Find beauty in your everyday experience.
Change the way you see the world.
Seeing and thinking are very different. Thinking relates to the world through ideas and mental images. Seeing perceives things directly, just as they are. We usually navigate our lives by thinking about where we are going, where we have been, what we are doing, what we hope for, and what we fear. This inner monologue overshadows most of our experience. Every now and then there are gaps in the flow of discursiveness where fresh perceptions shine through, but generally we gloss over them quite quickly. Learning to recognize and value these moments of fresh sense perception is what we will explore together in this special workshop.*
The day-long workshop begins with a grounding in the practice of meditation, suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators. After exploring the difference between seeing (perception) and thinking (conception) through meditation, we will head out into the world to integrate that into our everyday experience with and without our cameras. The day will also include plenty of time for clarification and sharing both of experience and our photographs, plus we’ll all head home with some beautiful images!
