About Kimberly Poppe—Artist, Photographer, Curator & Designer

Kimberly Poppe

Born in Boston USA, now based in Amsterdam, Kimberly Poppe works as an artist, fine art photographer, curator, and an art & design consultant specializing in commercial interior design for the hospitality and marine sectors. She studied interior architecture and design at the renowned Parsons School of Design in NYC, as well as art curation at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.

Kimberly’s photographic passion is exploring the art of seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary, the magic in the mundane. Her work is greatly influenced by the Contemplative Photography (Miksang) movement, having studied with the master teachers of Miksang (the Tibetan word for “good eye”) for many years. Represented by Rise Art, Kimberly’s images can be found in private collections around the world.

Presently, she is working on a multi-year commission by Brittany Ferries for their five new ships—both as an artist herself whose fine art photography features on the cruise ferries, as well as an art consultant & curator working in close collaboration with the architect and executive team to design the artistic concept, find and commission other artists, and help fulfil the company’s brand vision and goals through art & design.

As the co-founder and creative director of Amitābha Studio, Kimberly merges the traditional art of Dutch ceramics from her adopted home of the Netherlands with contemporary interior design. The studio specializes in creating unique, handcrafted Delft lamps from antique and vintage Dutch vases.

In her free time, Kimberly can be found performing live improvisational comedy at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam or hanging out with her Italian husband and their two endlessly entertaining cats, Milo + Zoe.
